Cinderella Project
The Cinderella Project is an annual two-day event held at the University of North Texas under the National Residence Hal l Honorary. The event provides free evening dresses to people in the area who would be unable to afford them on their own. This year, we were able to provide unique dresses ranging from size 0-16 (based on donated items), wraps, shoes, jewelry, and corsages/boutonnieres, all at no cost to the individual. People that received a dress could also get it altered for free during the event, with the help of professional seamstresses who volunteered their time, as well as take professional photos in their dresses. Individuals were able to choose their own dresses or have volunteer consultants help pick them out. These volunteers became the fairy godmother in a girl ’s special day as they tried on multiple dresses and took many photos. All of the items that are given away were donated from people throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area and provided free of cost to Cinderella Project participants.

This program won 2 awards in the past year, the Student Organization Community Service Golden Eagle Award, as well as Program of the Year from the SWACURH region. The Golden Eagle Award not only gave us a Golden Eagle trophy, but also a brick at the Alumni Pavilion at UNT. The Program of the Year Award has our bid advancing to the National level in December, and if we win, we will be traveling to the NACURH National Conference at Louisiana State University, as well as the ACUHO-I Conference in Toronto, Canada, both taking place in Summer 2018. Below are the bids that we wrote for both awards. Please enjoy!
